A. To be turned in every six weeks for a test grade.
B. You will need five dividers:
1. Notes
2. Daily Work
3. Homework
4. Miscellaneous – Drawings, chapter reviews, editorials, STAAR Reviews
5. Tests
ASSERTIVE DISCIPLINE POLICY:
1st Offense – Verbal Warning
2nd Offense – Referral to Grade Principal
3rd Offense – Notify Grade Principal and Parent Contact
GRADING POLICY:
The student’s final grade is based on the following scale and calculations:
Daily Work: 33%
Exams: 67%
100%
A: 100-90
B: 89-80
C: 79-70
D: 69-60
F: 59-Below
NOTE: Each student will have the opportunity to take a retest, if the grade of the first test is below a 70.
Documentation will be provided for those who sign-up and take the test.
STUDENT OBJECTIVES:

- Students will develop social studies skills.
- Students will apply current events to time periods in history.
- Students will develop test-taking strategies.
- Students will analyze developments that have brought our nations to the dawn of the 21st century.
CLASSROOM RULES:
- Follow instructions the first time.
- Come to class prepared with paper, pen, pencil and notebook.
- Keep your hands, feet and objects to yourself.
- Raise your hand before speaking.
- No gum, food, soft drinks, or cell phones allowed in the classroom. Cell phones need to be put away or they will be picked up. Cell phones will be confiscated when used in the classroom.
- No vulgar or obscene language.
- Each student will be required to participate in the history fair.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
- Each student is urged to attend class every day. Be prompt to class. Class starts after the tardy bell has rung and the door is shut.
- Students who arrive late to class are marked tardy, unless they have an excused note from another teacher or administrator. For the latest information regarding the policy on tardies, refer to the handout located at the information center in the classroom.
- Each student is responsible for completing the assigned readings and assignments prior to each class meeting.
- Exams will be given at the end of each chapter. There will be a chapter review the day before the test is administered. Each chapter exam is based on the STARR Assessment, which is a more rigorous test and is based on higher order thinking skills.
- All students, when absent, are responsible in approaching the teacher the next class day for any make-up assignments, quizzes, or exams. Check the Pace web page for any assignments that you may have missed due to an absence. TAKE RESPONSBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS. FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION.
